Hi, my name is George Brown. I am an 8th grader who has had a lifelong passion for art. I enjoy journalism, writing articles for my school newspaper, and basketball, which I play with my brother and sister in my leisure time.

Last October, I embarked on a unique adventure and began making PenShoes - fun and functional clay shoes that snugly fit on pencils and allow them to stand upright on your desk. PenShoes were originally purposed as golf clubs for a mini golf tournament a few of my friends and I started. However, toward the end of 2023, PenShoes evolved into footwear for pencils in the form of sneakers and boots. In time, I ventured to create new types of PenShoes in order to highlight certain seasonal events and important dates throughout the calendar year, such as Easter and Valentine’s Day.

Using my artistic passion, I found innovative ways to craft custom PenShoes, one-of-a-kind pieces that brought joy to anyone who used them. My commitment to this craft and desire to give back to those less fortunate than me have allowed me to expand my creativity and entrepreneurial mindset.

I have successfully raised over $1,000 so far in a little more than half of a year, 100% of which will be used to partner with brand-name shoe companies to purchase new shoes for economically disadvantaged kids.
